This complex is absolutely magnificent! The huge facade is completely mad but definitely eye-catching. The Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art was great too, certainly a place well worth visiting.

The Thyssen Bonemisza Museum is really near to the Prado and given the quality of its collection, it's quite extraordinary that it is so quiet. It houses a formerly privately owned collection of paintings which document the last seven hundred years of European art as well as a fairly good collection of 19th century American paintings and all rounded off with a few works of the 20th century European avant garde...

The Reina Sofia Museum houses some really fantastic works of art. Among its major pieces are works by Salvador Dali, Juan Miro and Robert Cappa - the father of war photography. There are also some really great temporary exhibitions here but perhaps the best - and biggest - reason to visit is the enormous 'Guernica' by Picasso. Its incredibly powerful in the flesh and so obviously a mould breaker.

This is Madrid's foremost modern art collection. You can see works by Miro and Picasso but my personal favourite were the thoroughly wierd Dali works.
