Wow, I never knew there was a real Egyptian Temple in Madrid!! Shipped over in pieces when it was removed from Egypt to escape the Aswan High Dam flooding, it now occupies a stunning spot boasting views of the gardens towards the Palacio Real.

I love heading here when I go to Madrid, it really seems like this is where the spanish like to spend their weekends and I can see why. Gorgeous park, and when the kids come too they can't get enough of the entertainment on a Sunday.

I was lucky enough to spend a month in Madrid and now i'm home it's this park, and particularly the buzz in it at the weekends that I really miss and am struggling to replace. Loclas flock here at the weekends to walk, relax and enjoy themselves and street performers and musicians flock there too, making a great vibrant and fun atmosphere.

This is an enormous area of Parkland outside of the city centre. There's a lot to keep you entertained here with a zoo, a lake with boats for hire, a ferris wheel and rollercoaster and a zoo. The cable railway has great views over the park and the city and there is a guide to tell you what to look out for.

My husband and I were wandering about this lovely romantic park and wandered over to explore this interesting looking building. Turns out, it was inspired by London's Crystal Palace and inside we found a good, if a little mad, modern art expo, and entry was free, always a good recommendation in my book!

Just by the Prado, you can walk from there or the nearest subway is Retiro
