Lovely huge castle, home to the Palma History Museum and the Despuig Collection of Classical Culture. Great place, lovely views.

This is quite a magical building and all the more so for the fact that it still gets used in the summer months when the royal family holiday here. The initial structure was a Moorish palace but when the Moors lost control of Majorca, it became the seat of the independent monarchy of Majorca. You can see the fusion of Muslim and Gothic styles which are very interesting.

La Almudaina is a 13th century Moorish fortress with some gothic elements to it. There are some beautiful gardens surrounding the palace and you can see a Miro sculpture here. Inside the palace is some much older art - paintings, tappestries, carvings etc... There is some information dotted around the palace so that you can learn a bit about the history of the building.

Palma Cathedral is a bizarre sight. Its quite squat by comparison with other cathedrals. As mights be expected from a Catholic church in Spain, its incredibly ornate.
