I have always believed that the best way to learn and appreciate a new culture is to learn about their art and history, that is why when I was in Marrakesh, I was happy to visit the Museum of Moroccan Arts. While there did I did not only see contemporary art, but also daggers and other crafts created by ancient tribesmen.

The Jardin Majorelle & Museum of Islamic Art located in Marrakesh city of Morocco is owned & looked after by the Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation. It is a exotic sub-tropical garden which provides a haven away from the hectic pace outside. French painter Jacques Majorelle during his stay in Murrakesh from 1922 to 1962 had designed the garden. Amids the cooling water features & majestic palm trees there is small museum which contains collection of Berber & Tuareg jewellery, textiles, carpets, wedding curtains & cobalt blue pottery. A separate room in the museum is dedicated to Majorelle’s work.

The Djemaa el -Fna Square("assembly place of nobodies")is the focal point of Marrakesh. It is a large square where many of the budget hotels and souks are located. In the evening there are rows of open air food stalls, jugglers, snake chambers, storytellers and magicians.Around the square there are roof top cafe and Restaurants with balcony, where you can watch entire spectacle.

: I just returned back from Marrakesh this weekend and my stay at the Islane hotel was worth it. The room was fabulous and had a great view. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Centrally located, the hotel is close to all the major attractions. The food was tasty and had just about enough choices. The staffs are efficient at their duties, though some of them do not know to speak English. The hotel has 3 stars to it's credit and it is definitely worth the rating.

Morocco has a diverse people with an amazingly rich culture, which has produced some very high quality art pieces. The best place to see some of these amazing pieces is the Ethno Art Gallery in Marrakesh. During each of my two trips to the city, I have picked up a great piece that serves as a reminder of my time in the city.
