Water Vendors

posted by 2Packs on 19 January 2011 at 15:42

On my first day in Marrakesh, I was really impressed by the water vendors. Their costumes are really colourful, massive pink smocks and a bizzare conical tassled hat with cups hung around their necks and a water carrier slung over their backs. So far, so exotic. After a while though, they really began to irk me and seemed to be constantly badgering tourists for money. It's a massive shame how touristy Marrakech has become.

Performers of the Djamia el Fna

posted by LLCoolJ on 19 January 2011 at 15:35

This is quite possibly the most fake place in the world. It has been crafted to conform to the most cliched impressions of the Arabian city. This isn't neccessarily intended as a criticism because I think it's really good fun but it's definitely fun in a theme park kind of way as opposed to an anthropological way. Snake charmers, potion vendors, witch doctor dentisits. Take a camera and you'll get some good pictures but don't be surprised if people try to get some cash out of you for the pictures.
