Abbotsford Convent

We went with our Aussie friends for the Slow Food Market and we were delighted with the place. Lovely architecture, a wonderful vibe and the food was delicious too!

No, not the one in London! This one is a grand gothic-style building, and the interior is pretty spectacular with amazing carvings and stained glass.

Flinders Street Station

Apparently the busiest suburban railway station in the southern hemisphere, this station is very grand indeed. I loved it here, the victorian architecture and particularly the domed clock tower, as well as the contrast with neighbouring federation square with its modern intriguing architecture.

Shrine of Remembrance

posted by vcanham on 2 November 2010 at 13:24

The Shrine of Remembrance is a really beautiful piece of classical architecture and a must see for all architecture buffs. It commemorates the service of people of Victoria in World War I. Amazingly there is a bit of the roof which lets light through only on 11th November every year to illuminate word "love" inscribed on the wall of the Memorial.

Queen Victoria Market

posted by whegarty on 10 August 2010 at 16:55

The Queen Victoria Market was founded in 1878 and is housed in a beautiful old structure. You can buy pretty much everything here and it's definitely not just a tourist affair. There are clothes, food and flowers on sale. There are also souveneir stalls and its worth having a go at bartering.
