Bosque de Chapultepec

posted by kwise on 25 August 2010 at 17:10

This is apparently one of the biggest urban parks in the world and at 543 acres is an oasis of calm away from the dirt and pollution of the city. There is a zoo and a lake that you can take a boat out on. The highlight though is the beautiful castle which is a great piece of Spanish colonial architecture, although the site dates back to an Aztec stronghold.

Zocalo

This is the centre of Mexico city and the first place you should go to orientate yourself. The Zocalo Cathedral is very beautiful and the largest in South America. You can go in for free. Also in the swuare, you find the national palace and constitutional plaza. There are lots of restaurants and cafes as well as street vendors and performers so lots of people watching to be done.
