My husband and I had a peaceful time here, it's one of my outstanding memories from our holiday in Moscow, such a shame that the soviets destroyed so much of it. Lovely buildings and you can tell from the bit of the wall left it must have been an amazingly impressive place once upon a time.

I loved this pretty park not just because of the pond and the pathways but also because I first heard about it in 'The Master and Margarita' and wanted to go there ever since. There is even a statue of Bulgakov, who lived in the area and wrote books in secret.

As a fan of the ridiculous, I really loved spotting these (seven) super-grandiose 'wedding'cake' style buildings around the city, a legacy to Stalin's pomp and ambition. The buildings are all really tall and in the same style but range in uses, you can even stay in a couple of them as they are hotels.

all over the city, check out the internet before you go to get the style and then you'll be good to go!

This is a great little oasis of calm in the middle of Moscow. Despite its close location to all of the major sights, you genuinely feel you can relax at the end of the day. The spa especially is top notch. Rooms have views of the Bolshoi and Kremlin and it's just a 5minute walk from Red Square.

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Moscow. This is a beautiful riverfront hotel with incredibly lavish decorations and a high quality of service. The proximity to the Kremlin and Basilica is a big plus but perhaps the biggest plus is the incredible buffet breakfasts with a massive choice.
