A great place for a wander and to see the culture at the heart of Mumbai. There are also so many great places to eat that we just kept coming back for more learning and more food.

The Elephanta Island features fantastic networks of carved cave trmples. These date from the 5th to 8th century AD - the earlier carvings being Buddhist and the later Hindu. The Main cave is really quite incredible and is reckoned to be one of the best temple caves in India.

A geat place to go with children, but not really young ones i'd say, as there;s lots of interesting science and the planetarium shows is one of the best i've seen. the rest of the centre has lots of cultural and artistic bits which were also quite good, although the planetarium was the best.
