This is a relatively unspoilt area of coast and is still mainly dominated by small quaint fishing villages. You can get a ferry to Mandhura and then get local transport from there. I'd especially recommend heading to Kolad where the lake is beautifully clean and you can hire a rowing boat. There is some great birdlife to be seen and there are a few places where you can stay on the lake.

The climb to Peth Village is fairly easy going and affords you incredible views of some beautiful surrounding scenery. There are waterfalls along the way and you get great vistas out over surrounding plains, mountain ranges and valleys.

This is a really busy place and popular with tourists. It costs only 20 rupees to get in which equates to about 1 rupee per species that you'll see inside. There are tigers, leopards, lions, pythons, cobras, deer, porcupines and many many more animals. There's also a massive array of insects to see!

The Sanjay Gandhi National Forest was originally intended as an out of town wildlife reserve, but as Mumbai has grown, the park has become engulfed meaning that it's now possibl;e to go on safari in the centre of town. There are lions and Leopards skulking around the jungle here but even if you don't see any the lakes of Powai, Tulsi and Vihar as well as the Kanheri Caves make a visit here well worthwhile.
