My boyfriend and I went here for a day's relaxing and it was a real treat. There's some lovely gardens to explore, as well as a lake which we sat by most of the day. Heading up to the observation pavilion is also a great thing to do here.

If you want to escape the city take a walk up to the top of Malabar Hill where you can get a brilliant view of the city and some peace and quiet! Grab a bus or a taxi out and up to the top. You wont regret it.

The Sanjay Gandhi National Forest was originally intended as an out of town wildlife reserve, but as Mumbai has grown, the park has become engulfed meaning that it's now possibl;e to go on safari in the centre of town. There are lions and Leopards skulking around the jungle here but even if you don't see any the lakes of Powai, Tulsi and Vihar as well as the Kanheri Caves make a visit here well worthwhile.

The last time I wanted to go to Mumbai, I decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the city, and see some of the country side, which is why I am glad that I went to the Kanheri Caves. Dating back over two thousand years, the inscriptions in this cave temple are quite humbling.
