Don't be put off by the primary function of the casino. If you have no inclination towards gambling, pop in for a drink and check out the sumptuous interior. The Casino dates back to the mid 19th century and is extremely grand inside with a pastiche moorish style being particularly interesting.

The Museo de la Ciudad gives a detailed and thorough history of the development of Murcia through the ages from the pre historic age to the present day. I was particularly interested by the accounts of the part that Murcians played in the uprising against the French forces during the peninsula war. There are also seminars and concerts organised by the museum which I imagine would be worth catching if your visit happens to coincide with any.

The Museo de Bellas Artes in Murcia has a really fine collection and is cursted in a lucid chronological order. Its not hard to take an interest in paintings of the Spanish baroque and a fine collection of Ribera canvases is a particular highlight of this gallery. There is also a wide sculpture and archaeology collection.

This Cathedral has has had a long and contested history which bears witness to the complex history of the region. It began life as a mosque before becoming a Cathedral in the high Gothic style. Today it has a Baroque façade. Nothing of the original mosque remains except for the foundations. However, much of the original flamboyant Gothic interior remains in tact. There are also some amazing views of the city to be seen from the top of the tower.

Hospitality, is what I remember my stay at Hotel Legazpi for. The staff are the most friendliest and hard working that I have come across. The management is excellent with handling their staff and catering to the needs that each guest had. The guests in the hotel were jovial and friendly too. Getting directions to the places that I wanted to visit was easy, as the staff were more than willing to help. They even made few recommendations which I really appreciated. The location of the hotel was very convenient and close to the places I visited. The restaurant had some of my favorite food, which I enjoyed eating there.
