Paphos Castle

posted by dan_gauci on 6 June 2009 at 10:54

Paphos was the Cyprus' capital, and is famous for the remains of the Roman Governor's palace and for the Paphos Castle. The town is so rich in history that it has been listed by UNESCO as the cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. The Paphos Castle is located at the waters edge and the sea just adds to the beauty of this castle. It was originally built as a Byzantine fort to protect the harbour. To get into the bridge you will need to cross the magnificent bridge that crosses the moat. Inside the castle you can have a good look around and get a good feel of what happened centuries ago in this same castle. The view from the top platform is magnificent.

La Sagrada Familia

posted by dan_gauci on 6 June 2009 at 10:38

One of Gaudi's most famous works is definitely La Sagrada Familia. A massive church that is so impressive to look at. The unique architecture that Gaudi is so famous for is right here infornt of your eyes that just cant believe how amazing this piece of art is! The construction of the temple commenced in the late eighteen hundred and amazingly enough is still under construction. The church has a number of towers and three façades - the Nativity façade, the Glory façade and the Passion façade. There are many sculptures in the design and believe me one must see to believe that this is a monument of art!

The Manneken Pis

posted by dan_gauci on 6 June 2009 at 10:28

Brussles is the capital of Belgium and the capital of Europe. There are many splendid churches, monuments and museums worth visiting. The Mannekin Pis is a statue of a little boy in a somewhat compromising position that attracts many tourists each year. On special occasions throughout the year, the little boy is dressed in a costume. We were lucky to see him dressed and it does add to the originality of the statue. The statue is positioned on a fountain and dates back to the 15th century. This attraction shouldn't be missed.

Palm Tree Promenade

posted by dan_gauci on 4 June 2009 at 21:02

The Palm Tree promenade is one of the nicest attractions in Larnaca. It offers a diverse range of beach amenities for the morning swimmers and bathers. In the evening one can enjoy a nice walk and stop at one of the many outdoor cafes or restaurants. The restaurants offer good food at reasonable prices. Along the promenade there is a statue of the Classical Greek naval officer Kimon and palm trees at either side of the promenade.

Manchester China Town

posted by fwile on 3 June 2009 at 21:57

China Town is in my opinion one of the main highlights of the city of Manchester. The grand Imperial Chinese Archway opens up to a busy district full of authentic Chinese shops and restaurants. A visit to this district is a must when touring around Manchester city.
