What an astonishing place. The sadness of the apartheid history here is mixed with the stunning views across to the mainland and the bay with Table Mountain as a backdrop. Be sure to book in advance, we were turned away on our first attempt and booked for later in the week.

Even more spectacular than you think it's going to be! I know it's a Cape Town clichee tourist activity but if I were you I wouldn't care and would go up all the same. We took the cable car to be lame but there are also plenty of paths to the top to choose from.

Amazing place, the ruins here are pretty astonishing! No fewer than 5 temples as well as some of the city walls are all waiting to be explored, and the kids had such fun here too dashing about and playing games.

It's easy to overlook Cyprus's muslim past, with such a plethora of important places to visit, but don't overlook this shrine. It's a beautiful location by the lake surrounded by palm trees and is a lovely spot.

I can't fathom how long ago 7000BC was, it seems crazy to me that people lived on this site then. With a bit of imagination (and the right guide) it can really all come to life though.

About half an hour drive from Larnaca but totally worth it
