Not sure if this will neccessarily be a highlight of anyone's visit to Edinburgh but the Houses of Parliament are worth seeing if only for the epic bizarreness of the whole scheme. it looks a bit like the details were all made and then fired at random at the surface of the building. especially bizarre are the sticks of bamboo stuck over the windows... It looks a bit like a jungle prison

The Waters of Leath stretch across the Northern perimiter of Edinburgh and make for a lovely walk. In fact, they're recessed down to the point that you can walk for long stretches oblivious of the city around you. There are some beautiful houses along the way and you go past the Dean Gallery as well which is well worth a visit.

Cabaret Voltaire is the last bastion of cool music in Edinburgh as most of the dance and rock clubs seem to have been turned into up market accomodation in recent years. There are regular drum n bass nights and breaks nights as well as most of the bands who are worth their salt who visit Edinburgh performing here.

The Meadows are located to on the south side of town behind the university. They are a beautiful expanse of parkland and in the summer fill up with people playing sport and musicians. The cherry blossom here in the summer is absolutely incredible.

This is one of those Gaudi buildings that is almost synonymous with Barcelona and would certainly stick out like a sore thumb anywhere else in the world. There doesn't appear to be a straight line anywhere on the building and the front is entirely coated with broken tiles. These add to the theme which is George slaying the dragon - the mosaics look like scales and the roof is like a backbone. What a wonderful building.
