Gorgeous house and gardens with an amazing art collection. The largest foreign collection of Russian art is augmented with art and antique objects collected from around Europe. Totally elegant, a lovely way to spend your day.

The most unbelievable collection of all things aviation that i've ever visited. The space race section, documenting the space race with the USSR is totally ingrossing.

Consisting of a huge memorial wall and 19 statues of troops, this is a haunting and powerful memorial and remains my most vivid enduring memory from my trip to Washington.

I flew out to visit friends in DC and was totally taken with this park, which juts out into the river so there's plenty of water to see and walk next to. We all skated around on our inlines and had a blast.

One of the largest fish markets in the world, we decided that rather than getting up early we should party all night and then head over early! And it worked quite well. And we picked up a couple of lovely fish for our hangover breakfast! Win!
