Nikos Kazantzakis Museum

This museum dedicated to the local hero is really interesting, if on the small side. We stopped in on a drive from Heraklion to Agios Ioannis and loved both the tiny village and the museum. Definitely stop by if you're near it!

In the village of Myrtia, about 20km south of Heraklion

Ha Gorge

We came to Crete for an active holiday with a mix of beach days and trips into the interior. This was the best place we went to, a beautiful gorge, quite small so easily walkable by tyoung and old alike and not too far to travel from Agios Nikolai where we made our base.

Just near the village of Vasiliki, in the east of the island

Hidirlik Tower

This was my boyfriend and my favourite place to come in the evenings before the partying gets underway, you can have a really nice meal overlooking the bay, right by this ancient tower. The views are great and so is the atmosphere.

Karain Cave Museum

One of our friends, obsessed with caves, brought us here on our girly trip to Antalya and we had sucha fun time. Great drive, you really get to see what Turkey looks like and then there you can see a cave prehistoric people probably lived in and artefacts from various ages through history. You really feel like you're standing in a very historic spot.

Yagca, about 40 mins drive from Antalya

Antalya Museum

My wife and I were visiting some important archaelolgical sights in Turkey for our holidays and I have to say that this museum was one of the highlights. The roman sculptures and the sarcophagi were amongst the most delightful and unexpected joys!

On the sea front, between Konyaalti beach and the old town
