I first heard of this place when I was taking a scuba course my girlfriend bought be one Christmas and it became me dream to see it. And it was everything i'd been hoping for and more. Amazingly beautiful place, I could have stayed forever swimming about and exploring the reefs and seeing the fish.

We joined a tour as it seemed the easiest way of getting there but next time we'll be exploring other options if anyone wants to add one?

I don't think you have to be a train station buff to really enjoy Madrid's oldest train station, although a bit of a tendency maybe... Fabulous old station, renovated and emptied of tracks is now a tropical garden with loads of places to sit and watch the world go by. Perfect to nip into if your spirits are flagging or the weather is inclement.

Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, naturally it has its own station but approaching by foot is better

I'm not quite sure how I feel about bullfighting, and so we didn't see a show but we did go to look at Madrid's Bullring, the most famous in the world pretty much. It's a very imposing and slightly terrifying place, but the outside is so interesting to look at. Look for the pottery shields of all Spain's provinces, and the Puerto Grande where the successful (=alive?) matadors leave the arena.

My boyfriend and I love to get to know cities by walking around and building-gazing. This was our favourite place to walk down and see all the awesome things there. The buildings are so lavish, almost ridiculouly so, as if trying to outdo each other, making for a grand spectacle.

Basically it's from Plaza de Cibeles (or nearly) to Plaza de Espana

I was lucky enough to spend a month in Madrid and now i'm home it's this park, and particularly the buzz in it at the weekends that I really miss and am struggling to replace. Loclas flock here at the weekends to walk, relax and enjoy themselves and street performers and musicians flock there too, making a great vibrant and fun atmosphere.

In the centre, just to the east, metro Retiro or you can also use Ibiza
