A pretty mosque but by no means spectacular, the main draw is that you can climb the minaret and get a peek over the rooftops and beyond. Great scenery, definitely a fun thing to do when the beach has lost its charms.

My friends and I were on a road trip around Cyprus and stopped for lunch in Larnaca. We couldn't help but spot the fort on the seafront, an impressive building, so we investigated. A really interesting and unexpected museum nestles inside so I wanted to bring it to more wider attention!

I'm not a fan of visiting ruins although I love ancient history so this was a real treat for me, all the spoils of the archaeological finds without standing by some mossy rocks feeling totally underwhelmed. Great displays, some really unusual pieces.

Kalogreon square, not exactly central to the tourist places but worth the stroll

My mother and I loved this tranquil church, which we found in Larnaca the day before we left Cyprus, having stayed in a small village most of the holiday. The small museum is really interesting too, with examples of religions icons and other paraphernalia through the years.

I went to Melbourne to visit family over the holidays and I must say I was surprised at the near proximity of the beaches to the city!! Just a short ride away. The cutest one we went to was Brighton Beach, where they have those old-fashioned changing rooms/bathing boxes that the victorians used to use dotted about!
