Hilton Auckland

posted by cemrick on 11 January 2011 at 10:35

We had a really great appartment here and can recommend the Hilton very highly. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a massive living room space and a great balcony looking out over the harbour. All mod cons were provided and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I'd definitely o back

St Catherine Street

posted by pwatson on 11 January 2011 at 10:21

This is effectively the Oxford Street of Montreal but actually is reasonably pleasant. The Canadians are incredibly fashion conscious and the shopping on St Catherine Street is as good as anywhere in the world. It's also just a lovely bustling place to visit with great ambience and the odd street performer.

Chez Cora

This place is fairly well known in Montreal as THE place to have breakfast. It serves everything in extra large and super delicious - crepes, omelettes, fruit salads, it's all delicious and the perfect way to set yourself up for a day of sightseeing

Le Square Phillips Hotel

posted by gburney on 11 January 2011 at 09:58

The Le Square Philips Hotel is in a building designed by Ernst Cornier. Its a really beautiful building and the transformation to a hotel was very succesful with all rooms being spacious and comfortable suites. There's also a swimming pool and fitness room on top of the building with some great views from the Skydeck.

VDNKh Exhibition

posted by rsummy on 11 January 2011 at 09:47

THis is the all Russian exhibition centre founded under the Soviets as a celebration of the constant progress of the soviets. The grounds and monuments are kitsch in the extreme and a number of the former exhibition spaces are now comercially owned. However there's still much remaining from the Communists including the fantastic monument to Uri Gargarin and the Soviet space program.
