Zamalek

The northern part of the island of Gazira was the best 'non-obvious' attraction that we went to. Great shops and the nightlife is great too, a funky place to go and hang out. The best place to head for is the Sawy Cultural Centre, they kept us entertained on many an evening. Further south the opera house awaits too!

Qarafa

The 'city of the dead' made such an impression on me on my holiday in Cairo. It's simply astonishing how many people live in these old mausoleums, displaced due to poverty and war. The southern cemetery has fewer residents and feels very eerie, but you can see the architecture more than in the northern cemetery, where people seem to pop out from everywhere.

Qutab Minar

The world's tallest brick minaret is certainly worth a visit. It's really quite magnificent with its different colours and ridged design.

The Garden of Five Senses

Without a doubt the highlight of my holiday in New Delhi, I loved every moment I was there. So much to see and experience, the best bits were the sculptures and the solar park, as well as the rare flowers and the colour gardens...and I could go on!

Gandhi Smiriti

This spot, where Ghandi was assassinated is clearly held in deep affection by all who visit, and it's both lovely and sad to see his room just as he left it. A great place for some quiet reflection on the great man himself.
