Padrao dos Descobrimmentos

The Padrao dos Descobrimentos is a monument to the great explorers of Portugal who chartered new corners of the world. It's an amazing sight and well worth seeing, as it's made in the shape of a ship with Henry the Navigator standing at the helm of the ship. Behind him are other great explorers including Vasco da Gama. All this is carved out of stone. Really incredible.

Rated one of the world's best bars and i can understand why! The views are spectacular. it doesnt have a roof so is not recommended for a rainy evening! Come for a drink and the scenery. Bangkok's cityscape, the winding Chao Praya river and the soccer ball sun sinking below the horizon are best enjoyed with a glass of fine Crystal, or wine and cocktails.

The place has every type of food you could possibly want to accommodate the fussiest of travellers. Its a busy place so dont go there if you are looking for a quiet meal for two however the views are great.

The backpacker haven is laden with yummy local food stalls and souvenir shops not to mention hostels and B&Bs. THe best part of the city for the budget backpacker.
