Washington National Cathedral

Stunning architecture set in beautiful grounds. We took a short audio tour where we learnt about stain glass, the choir and the clergy plus the cathedral history for just $5. Money well spent.

African American Heritage Trail

posted by xjowers on 19 November 2010 at 10:25

There are over 20 trails to choose from if you want to delve into the Afro-American history of the area. The Capitol Hill is home to the first school for black children that opened in 1807. We spent an afternoon in the neighbourhood and found the trail really interesting.

Bens Chili Bowl

posted by gjyllian on 19 November 2010 at 10:16

Rumour has it a certain President Obama sampled the signature chili half smoke at Ben's Chili Bowl. It doesnt look like much from the outside but the chili is so delicious you can understand why it has become such a landmark.

Douglas Playground

posted by rberry on 17 November 2010 at 17:57

My mates and I were on a roadtrip so always looking for something fun (and free) to do in the downtime between surfing. This park has an awesome concrete slide and with a little local know-how we'd flattened one of our boxes, added a little van-sand to the slide and we were good to go! ZOOOOM!
