Stunning caves that are beautifully lit and wonderful guides who can tell you loads about them, plus great jungle trails outside, this was my idea of holiday heaven.

About an hour from Cancun, on the road to Tulum, you'll need a car unless you join an organised trip.

My grandparents loved this church, partly for its peace but also for its many pretty chapels and the glorious main altar. I loved the terrace outside with its gargoyles which was a lovely spot to eat our lunch.

You could have gone back centuries when you step into the Ca'n Fontirroig gardens and see the bath houses. The gardens are splendid, so peaceful and the baths beautiful, particularly the cupola, if a bit dilapidated but really to be expected for something so old!

This magnificent gothic building was a total surprise with its ornate angels and gargoyles adorning it. Fascinating stuff.

My mum took me to this castle and we had a lovely day. IT's mad to see a round castle as all the normal ones are square! Really cool to look at all the architectural quirks and the mad but fun show rin the main yard was the icing on the cake!
