Children's City

posted by yhouser on 11 November 2010 at 12:38

I'd say not just for kids! I went here with my cousins as their chaperone for the day to give thier parents some time off and I had a total blast (as they did, i think...). I loved the interactive side of everything and the planetarium was excellent. I even learned some things at the more educational side of things, particularly at the space exploration exhibit!

Al Ahmadiya School

posted by wmarshall on 11 November 2010 at 12:37

We took the children along to here expecting a museum about schools and whilst they were reasonably entertained we relly loved looking at the architecture of this really old school. The carving and panels adorning the simple building are quite lovely and to me shout typical middle eastern archirtecture from the time before Dubai just wanted to outdo other rich neighbours.

Lamcy Plaza

My daughter and I actually shopped til we dropped here it was AMAZING, and we earned air miles (for flying back to shop here more, presumably is what they hope we'll do, and tbh it seems quitle likely!) on all our purchases. Great place must-see when you go to Dubai next.

Rockefellar Centre Christmas Tree

posted by wbranson on 10 November 2010 at 17:52

We were in New York in early Decemeber last year and managed to witness the Rockefellar Centre Tree lighting. The tree was about 80ft tall and covered in multicoloured lights. The ceremony was full of pomp with music and a large crowd, it really got us in the festive mood!

Greenhouse 36

posted by probinson on 10 November 2010 at 17:46

A crazy dining experience whereby the dining room is enclosed in a greenhouse (but not as hot and stuffy) opening out onto a manicured garden. The restaurant serves fresh, seasonal food at a reasonable rate.
