Awaroa Walkway

posted by vwilson on 21 October 2010 at 11:31

My family and I love walking and we couldn't resist the pull of the awaroa seaside walk. going from shelly park up to naupata point there's plenty to see including maori sites and great rock formations. It's quite long so would say that you can just do a bit but look up which bit so you see some good things.

Auckland Botanic Gardens

It's astonishing that entry to these lush gardens is free! Would definitely advise taking it all in from the comfort of the cafe first of all! the visitor centre is informative and the garden is lovely. it's great to see so many plants i've not seen before as well as the odd favourite.

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamak

I have to say I didn't know much about NZ and maori art before I came here but it really opened my eyes to the interesting and exciting styles they use and once you get it, there are examples everywhere. A really nice space and fun to visit.

Nehru Centre and Planetarium

posted by lhahn on 21 October 2010 at 11:05

A geat place to go with children, but not really young ones i'd say, as there;s lots of interesting science and the planetarium shows is one of the best i've seen. the rest of the centre has lots of cultural and artistic bits which were also quite good, although the planetarium was the best.

Dr. Annie Besant Road, Worli, out to the west of the city

Amazing caves with hindu and bhuddist artwork. We took a trip out to this island and were astonished at what had been created out of the basalt rocks and caves, really lovely place to visit.
