Honeybee Ceramics

A really fun and unusual way to get your souvenirs and learn a bit about pottery. Be warned though that some things you can make take a few days to be ready so not a last-ditch trip really. My girls and I really loved this place (and not just the painting, the cake too) and enjoy looking at the things we made now we're back home.

In the town centre, coming from the harbour take the inland road and turn right at the main road

Paphos Castle

The castle dominates the harbourside and it's well worth going inside, in particular for the views from the top! We were lucky enough to catch part of Aphrodite's festival here and it was a wonderful experience.

Paphos Odeon

This 2nd century amphitheatre is a real treat. We visited twice, once to explore and enjoy the view whilst eating our lunch and the second time to watch a play which was fun, although we didn't understand much of what was going on! later a local told us there are much better dance shows over the summer.

where, when, how, web
Just next to the archaeological park on the harbour you should be able to find this on foot

Paphos Bird and Animal Park

A lovely day out for the whole family. A pretty impressive colleciton of animals, i must say the the albino wallaby stole our hearts! My kids loved the petting zoo and I enjyed learning about the old handicrafts of the traditional cypriot lifestyle. the sunset wasn't bad either.

where, when, how, web
a bit of a drive north up the coast ~10km it's definitely worth it, especially if you've already hired a car for other trips like aphridite's rock

The Carlton Centre

posted by jsteele on 20 September 2010 at 11:49

The views from the 50th floor here are an excellent (and much cheaper than the helicopter flights!) way to see the city. A must-do when you come to joburg we made a day of it shopping, eating and ice-skating too.

where, when, how, web
on commisioner st it's very close to the centre and pretty easy to find as it's the tallest building you can see!
