I don't think you can really understand the mindset of New York today without paying a visit to Ground Zero. Its definately a sombre experience but some museum displays and sculptures make it an almost uplifting place and a tribute to New York's spirit of survival.

Not for vertigo sufferers! the view from the 86th floor observatory is absolutely stunning, but even if you can't stomach it the building is definately a must see and is THE iconic building of the Art Deco period.

The Museum of Modern Art is housed in one of the iconic buildings of modern architecture. It has perhaps the best and most complete collection of modern art I've seen anywhere in the world. My particular favourites were the abstract expressionists.

This is Lisbon's central boulevard and a must see. As well as some historic monuments, It is a great spot for some shopping- or window shopping, if like me you can't afford most of the designer brands on sale!

This must be the most impressive of Lisbon'd monuments. Its in very good condition considering its age and has some incredible carving on the outside. You can still really get a sense of how monks used to live in this place.
