The secret unfortunately got out, and now this thermal beach is crowded around the clock. I would recommend it nonetheless and for a really great experience, I would say go in the small hours of the morning in the winter. sitting in a thermal bath when its cold outside is a really great experience. Don't worry about being cold, the water can reach 40 degrees!

You can get a boat from Kardamena to the small, remote island of Tilos. It's a lovely two hour crossing, with plenty of time for sunbathing. You'll land at San Antonio where a bus will collect you to take you around the island. The highlights of the island for us were the ancient monastery of St Panteliemon and the village of Libadia which has some charming little restaurants.

The Monaco Hotel Faro is just outside town and is a great spot for a family holiday with a lovely swimming pool with sun loungers and parasols, clean rooms with Sky TV. Staff are really friendly and excellent english is spoken by all. Shuttle buses run every day into town.

This is a great place to stay even if only for the location. It's just ten minutes from the bus stop, right by the main shopping streets and within easy walking distance of pretty much everything else you could want to see. The staff are exceptionally friendly and 60 euros gets you a twin room and breakfast. We had read reports of money disapearing from people's hotel rooms though I find this very hard to believe.

This hotel is brilliantly located in the heart of Faro. Most rooms have balconies with incredible views out over the port and lagoon. Rooms are clean and the restaurant is fairly decent though I'd say that the staff could do with being a bit friendlier. Eva Hotel is decorated to give off the impression of being a really classy establishent but I would say that nothing can compensate for unfriendly and inatentive service.
