This hotel is definitely a bank breaker though probably worth it. Its very clean and the service is really attentive. There's a great kids' club and loads of sports available - watersports as well as tennis courts and golf. The Nikki beach area is lovely and relaxing too. My one criticism would be on the dining front as there wasn't a particularly decent restaurant.

The Terror Haza Museum is a really great place. It is of a much higher standard than any other museum of recent history that I have visited in Eastern Europe. It is located in a former interrogation centre and documents the history of Hungary opressed by Fascist and Communist regimes. There are quite a lot of displays in English and entrance is free on Saturdays.

The funicular is located at the end of Chain Bridge and runs the steep ascent up to the castle. It's a really sweet contraption and though the 19th century funicular was destroyed in World War II the remake has a really retro feel to it - except that it is electrity powered! you also save yourself an incredibly arduous climb up the hill.

These are the largest baths in Budapest - absolutely enormous! They are located in a really grand baroque - style building and include a number of indoor and outdoor pools. They are fed by Budapest's hottest spring and frankly, I'd recommend them over the Gellert which is a bit of a tourist trap and a bit grotty. If you have a Budapest Card you get a complete refund of your money if you're in the baths for less than two hours.

The Gellert Baths are located in a really wonderful Secession building in an incredible Oriental inspired art nouveau style. ENtrance to the baths was a wee bit pricey but definitely worth it. There are steam baths and thermal baths of a variety of temperatures. You can also get a massage, although that would have cost quite a bit more.
