The Elephanta Island features fantastic networks of carved cave trmples. These date from the 5th to 8th century AD - the earlier carvings being Buddhist and the later Hindu. The Main cave is really quite incredible and is reckoned to be one of the best temple caves in India.

Metro and Eros are both great cinemas in Mumbai and host packed out audiences for the latest Bollywood releases. Indian Cinemas are a great experience and make English cinemas seem very staid. people laugh, sing, shout and cry at the screen. If you're worried about not understanding the plot, not to worry, most Bollywood films have a a ssmattering of English in them as well as simple plots which can generally be understood just from the pictures and the songs.

That's right, Lenin Lives in Seattle. Fremont, Seattle to be precise. This statue took me completely by surprise when I saw it and is a really curious sort of monument to the great American value of freedom of speech. It is reputed to have come to Seattle shortly after the fall of communism when it was torn down in its home - Slovakia - where it was sold to an American as scrap metal!

The Snoqualime Falls are located about thirty miles outside Seattle. Frustratingly, there isn't a bus that does this route but if you've got a car, be sure to make the journey. The Falls are higher than Niagra and there is no charge to see them. It's also relatively easy to get to the falls, with one of the viewing platforms near to the car park. You can also walk down to see the falls from lower down.
