Lemon Express

posted by dmays on 26 October 2010 at 09:31

The Lemon Express apparently dates back to the 1920s. Its a really nice ride taking about an hour and a half through some really beautiful scenery. You catch the train in Benidorm and End up in Gata de Gorgos by way of Altea, Calpe and Benissa. On the way back you're served champagne and there's a great tour guide pointing out sights along the way. A great trip.

Mundomar

Mundomar is an animal and marine theme park and is a great day out for the whole family. They have great sea creature displays and my kids especially enjoyed seeing the sea lions and flamingos though of course the dolphine display was the highlight of the day and an absolutely incredible sight. There's also a big playground there.

bullfighting

posted by ggottwine on 19 October 2010 at 18:03

This is really quite a shocing sight to see but I suppose that its so iconic that it would have seemed like a shame to pass up the opportunity. It costs £30 for a two hour performance which includes dancing, music and of course the fighting itself. It's really quite gorey and the bull is killed at the end of the fight. The brave members of the audience can have a go at fighting a smaller bull.

Cenotes

These are the underground rivers that flow through the Yutacan peninsula. You can swim through them by descendeing through holes in the rock and journey underground until you emerge into the middle of the rainforest.

Puerto Morelos

posted by bwilkerson on 19 October 2010 at 17:47

After a while we came to find Cancun too much and headed out to Puerto Morelos which isn't too far away. The beach was completely empty and we got a lift in a launch out to the reef where we were able to do some snorkelling which was really magical and beautiful. well worth the trip
