Mt Eden is 190 odd metres above sea level and has some great views over the city. Look out for the 50 metre deep crater and watch you footing!

This is a really fantastic aquarium. They've recently introduced hundreds of penguins which are an amazing sight. There'a also a long underwater tunnel that you can walk through and look at the sharks, stingrays, squids and other terrifying creatures around you. Apparently you can pay to dive with stingrays weighing up to 200 kilos if that takes your fancy...

Devonport is just a short 20 minute hop from Auckland by ferry. It's a lovely quaint little port and you can do a nice walk to the 2 volcanoes which isn't too much of an exertion at all.

This is a large expanse of inner city parkland in Auckland. Its a nice relaxed spot and contains the national museum as well as the cultural and war museums. The national museum is especially worth a visit for its wide collection of Maori carvings as well as the Maori cultural performances which happen a couple of times a day.

The Wayang museum is a museum dedicated entirely to puppets. The tradition comes from the hindu past of the country. This much I managed to gather but a fairly poorly labeled collection means that this is an enjoyable and amusing rather than particularly informative museum.
