The Christ the Redeemer church sits on the North Bank of the Moskva and is an enormous edifice- the biggest in the Orthodox world. It has an extraordinary history and has only existed in its current form since 1998 when it was reconstructed after Stalin's destruction of the original church had left the site a massive swimming pool! There's also a free museum on the site.

This is truly the heart of Moscow and absolutely not to be missed. From the incredibly imperios entrance to the iconic Saint Basel's Cathedral to the tomb of Lenin, you feel like all the key elements of Russian history are on display in this square.

This has long been the seat of governemnent and is an amazing place. It is effectively a citadel area and houses museums as well as churches. Amongst these, the archangel Cathedral is especially beautiful. There are also some modern buildings of Russian government here and therefore there is some very tight security.

This mosque is absolutely vast and perches magnificently over the city. It's incredible-especially at sunset. There are Dervish performances for toursits near the mosque which are energetic and fascinating

This is the main market place of Cairo and whilst a popular tourist destination is very traditional- you should dress and act with modesty. Its really fascinating to see how the market life works and the plentitude of food, clothes and spices on sale.
