The Lok Virsa museum is dedicated to the documentation and preservation of Pakistani folk culture. It has many examples of embroidery, costumes, metalwork and woodwork and there is a good selection of books available to buy as well as souveneirs.

Daman-i-Koh is a beautiful area of the Margalla hills just outside town. From here you have incredible views over the city and even as far as Rawal Dam lake. The area is very well maintained and is a great spot for picnics and hiking.

This mosque is dedicated to the memory of Shah Faisal of Saudi Arabia and looks like no other mosque I have ever seen before. It is apparently designed to resemble a bedouin tent and can hold 15,000 people under a 40 m high canopy. It has 4 88m high minarets and against the backdrop of the Margalla Hills is an impressive sight.

The Lahore museum has a very in depth and detailed collection and its worth giving setting aside at least half a day to really do it justice. It details the history of the subcontinent from the bronze age to the present and has fine examples of mughal and colonial paintings. Probably the most fascinating exhibit is the statue of the fasting Buddha which is incredibly detailed and life like.

The Lahore Fort is truly enormous and an absolute must-see if you're in Lahore. It is thought to date back to the 10th century although the current structures are largely attributed to the Mughal emperor Akbar from 1566. The grounds house palaces, gardens, fountains and baths.
