The Kapaleeshwarar Temple is the largest and most beautiful in Chennai and one of the finest I saw during my travels in India. It is devoted to Shiva and is filled with shrines to various deities. The main Gopuram (tower) is 40m high and inlaid with incredibly ornate and richly coloured carvings. Its worth seeing the temple at one of the daily pujas which are quite a sight.

Aqualandia is a good water park with plenty of shutes, springboards, pools, rapids and some fun themed areas. I thought 19 euros was quite a steep entrance price but great fun otherwise.

This is a really fantastic marine animal park. The highlight is probably the dolphinarium where you can see some quite incredible performances. There are also flamingos, sea lions and penguins and a lot more different animals to see. A note of caution would be that the bat cave is utterly terrifying. Otherwise, its a really great family day out and the galleon under water viewing rooms allow you a great view of the creatures in the tank.

I hadn't heard of this place before going to Benidorm but it is supposedly the third largest theme park in Europe. There 5 different themed areas inside- Egypt, Rome, Greece, Iberia and the Islands and there are plenty of rides to go on with various degrees of stomach- churning-ness. A good day out for kids

I got dragged on this bike ride by my kids, much against my better judgement. In the event though, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it as a great family day out. There's no real physical exertion involved as pretty much the whole route is downhill from the village of Stellar which you are taken to by minibus. You pass through some lovely villages and valleys along the way and there are plenty of opportunities to stop for photos, refreshments etc.
