Tour round the island

We took a rental car and drove in 1 day round the island. It does not matter so much which company since the prices were not that different. The whole trip via the capital Las Palma and all the way to the North side of the island was very exciting. The Gran Canaria island has very steep mountains and the trip is not long in distance but the slow speed of about 40-60 KM/h gives you enough opportunity to see how the island is and how the people live in the non-touristic areas.

Grand Bazaar

This market called Grand Bazaar is located in the old part of Istanbul. The whole area is full with all kinds of shops in the small and curly streets. You will find everything, from souvenirs to jewelry. And don't forget to bargain and check out the amazing architectural buildings in the bazaar part of the town.

Castle by the sea

The Paphos Castle is built near the harbor and one of the bigger attraction s in the area. But you will find a piece of history of Cyprus that you won't find that quickly on this island. And of course from the neighborhood of this castle you can easily take a sun bath or go for a diving/snorkling trip by boat.

This was the most expensive Chinese Restaurant we ever went to. The Chinese food and kitchen were excellent! The staff was very helpfull and plenty of them. The moment your plate got almost empty, the waiter showed up and asked to fill your plate again. Amazing! The same happened with our glasses. :-) It was expensive but Geneva is not that cheap overall.

Rhodes has not that many diving school and places to dive. The best place for diving is the Kalithea bay. There was this diving company we used: waterhoppers. They seemed to be the biggest on the island. Not spectacular diving but a great start for beginners, like we were several years ago.
