Tom's Restaurant

Strictly for the Seinfeld fans, this is the restaurant that was Monk's cafe in the TV series. The front is pretty much the same though the inside shots were shot in LA, it's not really touristy and is mainly full of Columbia University students.

This place is much more recommended by its great atmosphere and bustle than by the food itself. True, the sandwiches are absolutely enormous. I took at least two thirds of my steak sandwich home in a doggie bag as there was no way of possibly finishing it.

Katz's Deli

This is probably the most famous sandwich shop in the world and has attracted people in flocks for decades now to try the pastrami and pickle sandwich that it's so famous for. There are other things on the menu besides sandwiches and I had a really tasty soup. for film geeks, this is the cafe where Meg Ryan and Billy Cristal ate in 'When Harry Met Sally'
