American Museum of Natural History

This is one of the best museums i've ever been to, so much to see, so interesting and a great mix of ancient plus modern technology kept the kids involved too. Best bits were the Mammal Halls and the Biodiversity Hall. Sadly we didn't have enough time to visit the Planetarium.

American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History is an incredible museum in New York. Not only does it have some incredible artifacts, such as an Easter Island Statue or a Mayan stone calendar, but it does a great job presenting the artifacts in an easily accessible manner. They have a great collection of dinosaur fossils and a gigantic planetarium contained in a several story tall glass cube. The planetarium itself is quite neat as they have laid out the timeline of the universe in a walkable path that gives one a better sense of scale than straight numbers can provide. In a city that has dozens of must see places, if you are a fan of history, this should be at the top of your list of places to visit. It makes a good first stop in an exciting day in New York. Just a helpful note, plan on going earlier in the day because it gets really crowded as the day progresses, especially on a weekday as schools bring lots of kids for field trips to the museum.
