This is a charming historical site that is well worth a visit, since it quickly introduces you to the historical changes in Nottingham over the last 300 years. The Museum is housed in five 17t Century structures (they call them cottages, but they are really much larger). The Museum tells the story of what Nottingham used to be like in its heyday, when there were more houses and a thriving industrial base. A series of man-made caves is cut into the rocks that connect the structure, which is very interesting, especially to youngsters, who feel they are on a secret trip. If you visit the Museum, your ticket will also allow you entry to Nottingham Castle, which is close by. I like this type of attraction since it gives you a sense of history in a short amount of time. It really accentuates the feeling of living in Nottingham.
