Beautiful! Well worth going for the views as well as the flora and fauna of the area as much as the Monastery itself. The silver virgin mary is a sight to behold though!

Up into the mountains, not very far though.

The richest monastery in the country sure does know how to put on a good show. The monastery is lovely, although I didn't know who's grave everyone was visiting (internet says the first president of Cyprus, an Archbishop). The drive into the Troodos Mountains was pretty lovely as well, so nice to see a bit more of somewhere when you visit rather than the normal airport-resort-airport.

NW of Paphos, the drive takes a while as the roads become a bit winding

Visiting this Monastery is like going back in a time warp. It is only 20 minutes out of Paphos centre and has some stunning views over Paphos as it is 1694 feet above sea level. A truly peaceful place to visit.
