An extraordinary spot, you can stand in the HUGE ruins with mosaics and green marble columns and see another TINY christian basilica that's almost taken over by trees! The pillar where st paul was whipped is here too.

This very old church is now just ruins but you can see how grand it would have been. And if you believe the rumours, you can also see the pillar where St Paul was tied up and whipped by the Romans.

My parents dragged me here with them, they are all about the ruins but I have to say I wasn't impressed. The odeon in Paphos itself was much better, here I just walked about.

(aka Forty Columns) This was the kids' holiday highlight! The ruined castle is a great place to play on and with dungeons and a tower still there you can get a great idea of the place, or alternatively use them for a great game of hide and seek!

It was a bit of a struggle to get the kids to do anything historic on our holiday in Cyprus, but at only 5km away from Paphos the journey was quick, and the reconstructions really captured their imaginations. The excavations are really interesting too.
