It's a cabaret theatre - from the movie. A bit touristy now but still well worth a visit. The show, incredibly, is in about 4 languages - but it's unobtrusive. One minute the compare tells a joke in French (and all the French people laugh) then he'll say something completely different in English, then all the English laugh. Very sexy and very fun! We booked a flight to Paris and found a 4 star paris hotel when we got there, then booked Moulin Rouge from an events company.

A website with all the cheapest hostels in Paris, useful as cheap accommodation there is hard to find, these seem to have lots of character, when I've tried one I'll add another tip!

It's the cafe from Amelie! And it's in my favourite area of Paris, Montmartre. Have to confess to having been a complete tourist and following the Amelie trail, from the Carousel up the stairs to the Sacre Coeur, even past the grocers where the "tete d'oignon" worked! It was really surreal to sit there with a beer and remember the cafe-bar as it was in the film. It hasn't changed much at all, but it also doesn't feel like a tourist spot, with locals passing time just as the actors in the film did.
