I guess that pretty much every capital in Europe is full of skating rinks during the winter and France is no different with loads to choose from between December and March. I reckon that the Hotel de Ville rink is one of the best though as you are surrounded by beautiful buildings and glittering lights. Skates are rented out for just 5 euros.

The Grande Roue has travelled the world more than I have and it's good to see that it's now a regular feature in paris once again. If you're there in the festive period at all, you really shouldn't miss the opportunity to see some of paris's finest attractions from the top of the wheel. You have a fine view of the Place de la Concorde, the Tuilleries and the Champs Elysees.
