I couldn't believe how empty this was after fighting through the top rooms of the Louvre the day before. The grandeur of the architecture is worth the admission alone, although the gold dome from the outside is perhaps still my favourite part, especially at night. Napoleon's grave and the church were other highlights.

129 Rue de Grenelle, just a short walk down the seine from the Musee d'Orsay, best approached from the esplanade but varenne and La Tour Maubourg are closer metro stops

Paris has many amazing architectural landmarks, but during my visit the one that stood out the most in my mind was the Arc de Triomphe, which was built by Napoleon to commemorate all of his victories. It stands very majestically in the middle of the city, and its sheer size lets people who see it imagine all of the troops marching through it.
