We decided to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre by heading here for the day. The park is so pretty, and there's lots to explore with follys and other old buildings. Nearby too are the planetarium and the exhibition centre (vystaviste) which are amusing places to visit if the weather gets a bit inclement.

Further north than most of the other attractions, train praha bubenec or tram vystaviste

This huge park overlooks the old town and from to old town you can see its famous red reverse pendulum known as the metronome. The views are great and it's a lovely place to come for an afternoon walk as you can follow the river to prague castle afterwards.

This huge nature reserve on the edge of the city is home to myth and legend (as a local to tell you this tale!) There is plenty to do - enough to keep you occupied for a couple of days out of this city. Activities on offer include hiking, biking, swimming (although I wouldnt want to swim in the winter as it is freezing!). Admission is reasonable all year round.

Trams(both from Dejvicka, the end of the Metro line A) are 8 or 36, or the airport bus 119
