I don't think a trip to Rhodes would really be complete without getting lost for several hours in the beautiful Old Town. It is one of the oldest surviving medieval towns in the world but has elements which date back much further. Go in through the Eleftheria gate, see the ruins in the Simi square and make sure you spend some time on the Street of the Knights. Other than that, revel in your inability to get your bearings and make sure you stop for a traditional meal in one of the Old Town's many diners.

The peak of Mt Filerimos is 267 km above sea level and affords spectacular views down to Ixia bay and the Aegean beyaond it. Its a beautiful sight and with an approach through thick forrests makes a great excursion. At the top of the hill is the Monastery of Filerimos which sits on the sight of the Ialyssos Acropolis. In its current incarnation, it is an attractive structure built by the Italian occupation which sits in peacock gardens. Well worth a visit.
