What a fascinating place! It almost looks like somewhere that the Roman buildings came to die, but with the help of my friend the history buff he brought the whole thing to light and I really enjoyed it. Thanks Sam!!

I went to Rome with my sister and when we got to this area I though it looked a bit like a dumping ground for roman architecture. She pointed out loads of things like temples and basilicas and really brought the place to life!

The start of the road from rome to brindisi is now an archaeological park and on sunday there's no cars allowed so it's perfect for a nice long walk. My husband and I went early and spent the day exploring the ruins, so many interesting things to see so don't forget to pick up a leaflet outlining the main sites at the visitors centre justy outside the san sebastiano gate!

These magnificent ruins really impress upon you how grand rome must have been at the height of the empire. More than 1600 people could use these baths at the same time and the complex is simply huge. The engineering behind the builiding is no less impressive, particularly the water system.

When I went to Rome, I really enjoyed the massive ruins of the Circus Maximus. I had a private guide explain the site to me and I could almost hear the roar of the crowd and see the speeding chariot races that were so common in this structure during the Roman Empire.
