San Francisco Zoo

This is a great day trip for all the family. With more than 250 animals to see as well as a fantastic play area and interactive learning zone. Not to mention a cute cafe with a surprisingly good menu.

Fisherman's Wharf

It's not the most 'authentic' part of San Francisco, but when you're on holiday with a young family Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf do make for a convenient day out. The kids loved watching the sea lions, and there are plenty of family friendly restaurants and attractions all very close together. It's worth strolling up to Musee Mecanique on Pier 45, it's a quirky (and sometimes creepy!) collection of antique arcade machines, and it's free to look around!
