What an eye-opening tour on a beautiful island, compared to South Africa's Ellis Island for its dark history of imprisonment. Really worth doing, but probably not for kids.

This is the last remaining mission chapel in the city, and as such is an important landmark, being the oldest church in the whole of california. Most parts have been renovated though but the facade is original, making it a pretty special place to go. The next door basilica is also well worth visiting.
